Mission statement:

The Autism Society of Collin County (ASCC) believes the State of Texas

should promote the development of services and resources for individuals

with PDD or Autism throughout their lifetime. ASCC will strive for the

State of Texas to provide knowledge and understanding of individuals with

PDD or Autism to ensure their freedom of choice, equality, dignity and

safety in becoming an included and contributing part of society.

Description of chapter activities:

ASCC is a chapter of Autism society of America, we hold monthly speaker meetings about issues relating to autism and autism therapies that are open to the public, and we have two parent support group meetings to help connect parents with resources and information.  We also have a monthly Self Advocacy group for individuals with autism the same night as the general meeting.

We strive to disseminate information about autism awareness and educate our community about individuals with autism, and asperger syndrome. We participate in police training for autism on a regular basis and we speak at various community businesses and schools to educate about autism.
